Here's what I was able to work on today. It' looks a little funny cause I didn't get to finish but here we go:

The whole class time I've been working on another character

Wednesday, October 7, 2015

This is my continued first character, I'm having too much fun with the stencils and the paint colors. This was so much fun to do. :)

I added stuff to her hair also:

Reflection 1

For my Big Project I an doing an animated film. Ever since I started my big project I've learned how to animate a a person's point of view walking through a neighborhood. I've also learned how to paint, duplicate, extrude, bevel, extrude along path, make an animation of a crashing airplane, and how to start making a character in mudbox. For a few weeks I just followed the lessons Mr. Cornell gave me and then he said we needed to figure out our big project that's due at the end of this semester so everything he taught me I'm trying to use in my animation.

I watched a video on how to animate a walking scene through a neighborhood but it was the person's point of view. For a long while I kept trying and trying to making the animation right but the camera never worked properly. It looked like it was on a motorcycle turning on corners and turning to its side. But after a while I learned to how to animate properly. Using what I learned in the mini classes I used the paint tools, extrude tool, and the animating tools to do a small 45 second video on making a walk through of a neighborhood. In the process of making the neighborhood I had a lot of trouble painting the houses. They didn't change colors so I decided to delete the whole neighborhood and start again. I painted successfully but when duplicating some houses I made were different sizes and patios were uneven. I'm still having trouble on making objects but I'm trying my best.

Some things Mr. Cornell taught me has been a problem in my big project, sometimes a bevel wouldn't work or an extrude wouldn't do what I wanted. Somethings Mr. Cornell taught has been very helpful and sometimes hard. Since I'm just a beginner the animating and the building has become very difficult, I always have questions in my brain but I try  to find the answer on my own. The duplicate tool has been one of my best friends in making the neighborhood or just small projects I do outside of my big project that could be plugged into my animation.

Last class I started using Mudbox. Since an animation needs characters, scenery, art, a story, and my imagination I want to learn as much as possible to put it all in my animation so I've been using mudbox to make my first character and soon I'll look for more things I can do in mudbox. My first character has been very hard, since I've never used mudbox before I've been exploring on what it can do. I've been trying to make a nice girl's head in mudbox, it's not working, but since I'm just exploring it, it will be hard in the beginning but the more I use it, it will become easier.

In the process of making this animation I found out that a lot of work will be put in to a small part of your big project. That means a lot of time I've used will probably not be used or it will be a small part in my project. I've put as much time as I can in practicing and getting better at animation. I've always wanted to do a movie so working hard is my first priority. In my two animations I completed I've learned how to animate a plane on fire crashing and how to walk through a neighborhood. In my airplane animation it took a long time to figure out how to get it to look like crashing but it never lands or explode or whatever but I'm so proud of my small progress but my small progress will become something big.

In my animation of walking through my neighborhood I noticed that I can't get it to look like a person's walking, it looks more like a car is driving slowly through a neighborhood. Also in making the neighborhood the houses look animated not like a real house, it's more of a cartoon house. I haven't learned how to make realistic things but I'm getting there. Through what I've learned it's made me closer to making this animation amazing.

For my animation I'm practicing making characters. It's really hard to start but hopefully I'll get used to it. :)

I painted the street and made a small neighborhood. I also added a camera that runs along a motion path. I can't get the camera to work properly but I'm trying to figure it out.

This is the link to my virtual board. All my ideas connect to a fantasy world I want to make in my animation.
